Went to Wetumpka
Posted by Eman on April 26th, 2009Went to Wetumpka today. 1.5 hour drive and Stella did a pretty good job. Got a tear in the front (from a tow) welded up. Never seemed to want to overheat and never died. Going to keep on testing her this week, but things are looking good for the Townsend meet.
New exhaust manifold
Posted by Eman on April 23rd, 2009Took the driver side exhaust manifold off a 259 engine and put it on Stella. Started her up and the exhaust leak seems to have mostly disappeared. We’ll see.
Timing
Posted by Eman on April 20th, 2009The timing was way off (retarded) after adding the Pertronix Ignitor. But after adjustment, it’s spot-on. Hopefully that was the cause of the overheating.
Still have an exhaust leak. No idea how to fix it at this point.
Uh oh
Posted by Eman on April 18th, 2009I’m not sure the exhaust leak is completely fixed, but it definitely doesn’t smell as bad.
Took a trip around the neighborhood. Stalled once and hiccupped once. Went to fill her up with gas. Made it home fine.
Checked the transmission fluid which was non-existent. Filled it up to the proper level, then noticed something…
Radiator was overflowing. [...]
Exhaust Manifold Back On

Slid in the manifold gaskets (coated with blue gasket maker)
Tightened everything up
Installed the generator
Pertronix Ignitor
Posted by Eman on April 16th, 2009Got the electronic ignition in the Studebaker all squared away. Unfortunately tonight was supposed to be an exhaust manifold install.
Tiny update
