Bolt up time

Attached the flex plate to the crankshaft
Put the engine on the cherry picker
Bolted the engine to the bellhousing/torque converter

Horn ring

Got the rechromed horn ring back today
It looks TONS better, probably still not museum quality… but it was relatively cheap to have done
Installed the horn ring and the nicer horn button I collected

Hood undercoating

Sprayed rubber undercoating over the underside of the hood
Scraped and painted the hood hinges with Rust-Oleum satin black

Removed some of the undercoating and flaking off paint from the underside of the hood
Wire brushed and cleaned with acetone
Painted on Rust Bullet for added protection
Painted the temperature sending unit black

Door rubber

Installed the driver’s side door rubber
Not as pretty or even as the passenger’s side, but hopefully it will work better than the original
Attached the new engine stand to the original 232 engine… Two bolts were too long

Water outlet switch

Removed the 289’s water outlet, gasket and thermostat
Installed the 232’s water outlet, a new gasket and a new thermostat

Water manifold

Was going to use the 232’s water pump manifold, but it wouldn’t fit properly over the timing gear cover
Had to use the 289’s water pump manifold
However I plan on using the thermostat housing from the 232, so I removed both of those
Attached the water manifold to the block
Attached the 232’s fan pulley to the 289’s [...]

Rust Bullet cleanup

Removed the painters tape from yesterday’s painting with Rust Bullet

Door channel rust preventing

Removed the old, hard rubber around the driver’s door
Cleaned the channel with acetone
Painted the channel with Rust Bullet to prevent any more surface rust… Will add the rubber there soon
Attached foil to the black board that I cut for the trunk and back seat
Painted the breather tube Low Gloss Black

Oil pan back on

Replaced the rear main seal
Used the two small cork squares that came in the rear main seal kit
Had to cut the big piece of cork that fits inside the small curve on the pan, near the rear main
Made a gasket to fit on the oil pump
Installed the oil pump
Poured oil inside the engine and oil [...]
