Got the engine turned over (on the stand, that is)
Removed the water pump manifold
Used the Scotchbrite pads again as well as a screwdriver to get the flaky paint off in some spots
Used red Scotchbrite pad on the lower half of the engine
Used lacquer thinner to clean away the dust and grime
Vacuumed the manifolds and underneath the pistons
Cleaned around the pistons
Replaced the rusty spark plugs with some old ones I had
Traced and cut out a new backseat/trunk divider board
Cut holes in the carpet where the vendor had marked
Dry fit the carpet without the padding underneath just to see what it would look like
May fit okay, but the vendor said this carpet will fit over the sill plates rather than under
Removed the brake pedal pad cover (and of course cracked the rubber)
Removed the brake pedal pad
Removed the clevis pin underneath to lower the pedal to the floor
Used a tap to clean the threads in the holes on the engine block
Transferred the engine from the hoist to a stand
Decided it was cheaper and wiser for now to replace the 232 until I have the time and money to rebuild it
Bought a 289 Studebaker V8 engine from a 1956 Studebaker President
Got it home and placed it on an engine hoist
Took off a valve cover and oil pan, just to see (beautifully clean)
