Installed the new radiator
Installed new radiator hoses (with vaseline)
Bottom hose is ACDelco #31701

Torque converter
Posted by Eman on January 22nd, 2006Got the torque converter housing/cover off (had to bend it a bit)
Rotated the torque converter to find the drain plug and removed it
Drained the remaining transmission fluid
Cleaned the pan and screen with gasoline (gasket was EXTREMELY brittle and stuck on)
Put it all back together
Added 6-3/4 quarts of Citgo Type F transmission fluid (then it overflowed [...]

Posted by Eman on January 15th, 2006Opened the petcock on the radiator to drain (couldn’t find the two on the engine block)
Removed the radiator hoses from the radiator connections
Removed the radiator (has a neck leak and now apparently needs a new core)
Drained the transmission fluid from the main plug
Dropped the tranny pan
Removed the screen from inside the pan to clean
Began removing [...]
Oil drain plug
Posted by Eman on January 14th, 2006Got a new drain plug washer to hopefully stop the leaking (thicker round, copper washer)
Drained the oil
Did not take off the oil pan this time
Put on new washer, and put the plug back in with just one quart of oil to test leakage (although things may change once the car is running)

Posted by Eman on January 13th, 2006We adjusted the point gap on the distributor to .018 (everything looked relatively clean and rebuilt)
Replaced the distributor cap with a new one (old one can be cleaned up and maybe reused)
Started her up and adjusted the choke (about 1/4 turn clockwise from initial position) to make it less rich
Adjusted the idle mixture screws on [...]
Regrouping and getting stumped
Posted by Eman on January 8th, 2006Cleaned and packed the u-joint bearings
Reattached universal joint
Rolled her out and she started right up
New thermostat seemed to work… Fluid started moving through the radiator and it started getting hot
Noticed a radiator leak where the neck (underneath the cap) meets the tank
Antifreeze misted/sprayed everywhere
Adjusted the idle mixture screws to a relatively smooth idle
