Stella is taking a break

She’s in storage as we finish getting the basement worked on. Need to do some serious driving with her when it’s all done.

With vacation, house stuff, and daughter’s first time at school, I’ve neglected Stella a bit. Maybe I’ll dedicate some time to take her out this weekend.

Door handles

Replaced the springs in the door handles. Had to cut off the rivets (Dremel) that were previously in there and then use screws and nuts. Hopefully they will last.

SDC SE Zone Meet

Drove Stella about 300 miles to the Southeast Zone Meet in Townsend, TN this weekend. It POURED on us Friday on the way up. Today it just rained for a bit, then stayed overcast. Stella never wanted to overheat. The rain showed me some lovely leaky spots. Hopefully everything will dry out. Here is a link to some pics.

Trying to finalize things

Bought another Pertronix ignition and shortened the wires to length. Bought some hex head bolts to fasten the interior door handles. We head out Friday. The forecast calls for rain. I’m starting to feel bad… but not because of the rain.

Drove to work

Drove to work with no problems really. Got home and greased the driveshaft u-joints.

Minor things

Put on the brake pedal pad, touched up some chrome, and messed with the hat rack.

Oil change

Adjusted the brakes again. I think I freed them up a bit and got rid of the pulling.

Changed the oil. Used Rotella 15w40 oil and Fram PB50 oil filter.

Brakes

Attempted to adjust the brakes. A little bit of drag. Hopefully it won’t be too bad. Parking brake cable still needs some work.

Went to Wetumpka

Went to Wetumpka today. 1.5 hour drive and Stella did a pretty good job. Got a tear in the front (from a tow) welded up. Never seemed to want to overheat and never died. Going to keep on testing her this week, but things are looking good for the Townsend meet.
