New exhaust manifold
Posted by Eman on April 23rd, 2009Took the driver side exhaust manifold off a 259 engine and put it on Stella. Started her up and the exhaust leak seems to have mostly disappeared. We’ll see.

The timing was way off (retarded) after adding the Pertronix Ignitor. But after adjustment, it’s spot-on. Hopefully that was the cause of the overheating.
Still have an exhaust leak. No idea how to fix it at this point.
I’m not sure the exhaust leak is completely fixed, but it definitely doesn’t smell as bad.
Took a trip around the neighborhood. Stalled once and hiccupped once. Went to fill her up with gas. Made it home fine.
Checked the transmission fluid which was non-existent. Filled it up to the proper level, then noticed something…
Radiator was overflowing. [...]
Cut the driver’s floor mat to fit around the pedals
Checked the oil level
Checked the radiator fluid
Adjusted the gear linkage
Inflated the tires to at least 34 lbs psi
Topped off with gas
Installed the passenger side vent door
Attached the hoses to the radiator
Installed the radiator
Added 50/50 antifreeze
Reattached all of the wiring
Attached the fan belt and adjusted with the generator and bracket
Squirted the valve stems with oil
Started the car
Checked the valves for oiling
Installed the valve covers, grommets, gaskets, nuts
Adjusted the timing with a timing light
Shortened the accelerator linkage
Slightly [...]
Attached the heater ductwork inside the passenger fender
Reattached the driver side vent door
Turned one of the pipes on the water pump housing to be perpendicular to the housing
Painted the area around it (touch-up work)
Painted the generator low gloss black
Installed the generator… Just need to figure out where the hoses go around it
Removed the fender vent doors and the old gaskets around them
Installed the intake manifold and gaskets
Placed the carb on the intake manifold
Installed two new water hoses on the climatizer
Installed the heater blower hose to the blower tube
Attached the oil pressure tube to the back of the engine
Tightened the nuts on the front mounts
Attached the grounding strap
Removed the two hoses to the passenger heater/radiator
Attached the starter
Removed the 289’s water outlet, gasket and thermostat
Installed the 232’s water outlet, a new gasket and a new thermostat
