Well…

Posted by Eman on March 16th, 2009

We saw where the fuel line was leaking and took the clamps off, holding it to the frame

Tightened the line at the coupling

Tightened the line at the fuel filter

We THINK that got it, as far as the fuel leak (we wanted to tackle a different project rather than replace the whole fuel line)

Still an exhaust leak

Posted by Eman on March 14th, 2009

Jacked her up

Tightened one of the nuts on the exhaust pipe and manifold

Eased her down and out

Added a bit of fuel to the carb and cranked Stella up

Didn’t really see a fuel leak this time

Fumes from the engine were still coming through the firewall near the steering column

Quick ride

Posted by Eman on March 22nd, 2008

Tightened the small screws going around the fuel pump

Still have an exhaust leak on the driver’s side… maybe I’ll adjust it… one day
Belt may need some slight tightening

Carb and oil testing

Posted by Eman on May 25th, 2007

Installed a new fuel line from the pump to the carb
Had to get a new fitting for where the line goes into the carb
Used a drill and a slotted metal rod instead of the distributor, just to get the oil flowing
Gapped and installed the Autolite 437s (at .035)

Cleaned the intake manifold with Simple Green, 409, and brake cleaner
Primed with Dupli-Color High Heat Gray Primer
Painted the intake manifold and hold down bolts with Dupli-Color High Heat Cast Iron Gray
Removed the front bumper in prep for taking out the engine
Scraped the old water pump manifold gaskets off the 289’s block

Putting things back

Posted by Eman on September 13th, 2006

Put the old fuel pump back on
Put rubber fuel line with inline filter back on
Lengthened the accelerator to governor linkage by 1/8″
Took a test drive and the passing gear seemed to still be there AND she didn’t try to die at complete stops while in D… Problem solved?!
