With vacation, house stuff, and daughter’s first time at school, I’ve neglected Stella a bit. Maybe I’ll dedicate some time to take her out this weekend.
Drove Stella about 300 miles to the Southeast Zone Meet in Townsend, TN this weekend. It POURED on us Friday on the way up. Today it just rained for a bit, then stayed overcast. Stella never wanted to overheat. The rain showed me some lovely leaky spots. Hopefully everything will dry out. Here is a [...]
Drove to work with no problems really. Got home and greased the driveshaft u-joints.
Went to Wetumpka today. 1.5 hour drive and Stella did a pretty good job. Got a tear in the front (from a tow) welded up. Never seemed to want to overheat and never died. Going to keep on testing her this week, but things are looking good for the Townsend meet.
Took my first long trip in Stella with her “new” 289. I headed up to Huntsville (about two hours away). The temperature was about 55-60 degrees going up there and Stella made it with no problem. I was probably running 65-70 most of the way.
However, on the way back (about an hour into it), I [...]
Removed some of the undercoating and flaking off paint from the underside of the hood
Wire brushed and cleaned with acetone
Painted on Rust Bullet for added protection
Painted the temperature sending unit black
Well, I messed up the dash the other day… And the color wasn’t just right, so I wiped it off with lacquer thinner…
Repainted the dash with new paint mixed at Bonds Brothers
Used a spray gun to paint with, but it was just as bad as the aerosol sprayer
Don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but this [...]
Drove up I-65 to Huntsville for a North AL SDC show
It was a cool day, so we didn’t really have any overheating/radiator issues
She drove well and I took it easy going anywhere from 60-65mph
Checked the oil when we were about to head back home and Stella was 2 quarts low on oil
I think she burned [...]
Drove Stella about 16 miles on the interstate. First time to do so and I was a bit nervous. The weather was sunny and hot with a high around 95 degrees. I was going anywhere from 65-70 mph, and as I got closer to my destination, the engine temperature gauge crept higher and higher. I’m [...]
